The main focus of this technical assistance project lies on improving (i) efficiency and transparency in mining sector management and (ii) the frameworks for sustainable mining development. It will contribute to the strategic objective - which extends beyond the scope and timeline of this project - of scaling up the mining sector’s contribution to sustainable growth and development.
The following services are to be provided within the framework of the project:
- Review and analysis of the legal framework
- Development and improvement of cadastral procedures
- Technical specification of the future computerized mineral tenure management system
- Capacity building and institutional strengthening
This project started in January 2014. The first project phase was concluded in April 2015.
